Need a long range wireless camera?

December 29th, 2010

Im building a professional looking uav. I need a long range high resolution wireless camera with a transmitter and a receiver that is simple to hook up to a TV. I would also like the capability of recording video and taking pictures. Im not very good with the electronics part of it more of the aerospace engineering so. Money is not an obstacle. Any suggestions? Also a three sixty mount to put the camera in would be nice. And IR or thermal for night viewing.

Will a "real fake" video security camera be a deterrent?

December 29th, 2010

Would an average burglar be able to tell if a real video surveillance camera is really connected?

I was going to buy a fake video surveillance camera as a burglar deterrent, but the real ones cost about the same amount as long as you don’t connect them as a working camera.

I don’t want wires running through my house or have a wireless camera, so would a real but a non-working video camera be a deterrent?

How would a burglar know if it’s indeed connected?

How to stream wireless from an airborne camera?

How to remove noise from dc motors in my circuit, it messes up the video?

November 15th, 2010

I have a wireless video camera that hooks into the same battery pack as some DC motors. Every time the DC motors run it causes a distortion in the video. The video is using 2.4gHz, the motors are just cheap tamiya motors.

I have tried a "snubbing circuit" with a resistor and a cap, i have also put a 100nF .1uf cap on the terminals of the motors none of it seems to help. Actually the .1uf caps seemed to make it worse.

I tried placing diodes in a way to try and separate the two circuits as much as i could but that didnt help either.

This noise is bad, any idea how i can get rid of it? if not i have to use a separate battery for my camera.

How do I record on a Barbie VideoCam Wireless Video Camera?

November 12th, 2010

Hi everyone, I’m Taylor

I was over my friends house about a month ago and she has the Barbie VideoCam Wireless Video Camera
I thought it was awesome so I bought it and have been playing with it alot. But what I can’t seem to figure out for the life of me is how you record a tape on it. Meaning: When you use this camera, it’s not a real life video camera, it’s connected to the VCR. So when you turn it on, on the TV you can see yourself. When I bought it it said you can record videos through the camera that will record on the tape in the VCR. When I went to my friend’s house we recorded a tape, but I can’t figure out how she did it! Please help me!

Hi does anyone know of any wireless video LCD monitors that are battery operated? (Pls read my details)?

November 3rd, 2010

Basically I do alot of on-location filming with my Canon XL2. Im looking for a product that transmits a video signal from my XL2 to an LCD monitor.

However because its on-location fliming, that transmitter cant require a wall outlet.

Also, preferably, the receiver has an antenna and ALSO does not require wall power (rechargable battery operated?)

On "Beauty and the geek" I saw these devices, looked like 7" LCD monitors and on the back was a battery (looked like a canon camera battery) and an antenna sticking out of it. And the "Beauties" could just hold this lcd with the antenna and batt on the back and walk around watching their "geeks" do whatever challange.

Any solution or combined products to create this solution?

Toughie: any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wireless IP Camera- Need camera with longer range?

October 26th, 2010

Hey Everyone, had my car broken into for the second time in 6 months at my apartment complex. I have recently invested in a few gadgets to catch this suckers. I just bought a Linksys Wireless N Router, Linksys Wireless G Security Cam (Indoor) and a WD 640gb harddrive to record video to.

I have recently hit a brick wall on my project, I cant seem to quite extend my signal out to where my car is at my apartment complex, I am located on the far side of the building in relation to my car, going through 3 floors down and about 5-6 walls.

Obviously the cam that I have is not made for outdoor, however I made a little silicon/plexiglass box for it, and its under the overhang (or thats where i want it to be) however I just cant seem to get it to connect that far away, Wireless N Router didnt seem to boost the signal at all, in fact seemed to weaken it from my old G that I had. Before you say that you have to have an "N" camera I know, but I have also read that you can still get a boost with just the router.

**The Question** Does anyone know a way to either boost my signal, or more realistically a new long range camera, for under 200.00 that probably will do a little better than this 99.00 linksys cam i bought? Thanks for your help in advance.
I have the WRT160N right now. That range expander you showed me only shows capatability with G and B. Also I really dont think that will help nor do I want to spend much MORE money =-/

What is the best wireless audio extender?

October 26th, 2010

I need to send an audio signal from the mixer to a video camera across the room (about 15′) and cable is not an option. I’ve read about a few products on-line but the customer reviews show that there is interference with other household gadgets because it operates on either 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz. Can anyone with personal success with these devices make a recommendation?

Should I buy the GVS1000 Long Range IR Day Night PTZ Surveillance Camera?

October 21st, 2010

Hello

I am looking to protect a Port Harbor and need to see about 1000m at night.

I was looking at the GVS1000 because its made by Bosch (Extreme CCTV) but it only does 1km distance which is a bit short as I am hoping to get at least 2km, of night vision.

The GVS1000 uses active IR but I am not sure if thermal would be better.

Is there a better solution out there or is the GVS1000 the only camera that can see these ranges at night.

If there are better solutions out there please post information and links

spy hidden video camera question?

October 15th, 2010

i am looking for a hidden video camera (such as the ones that are disguised as a button) that is wireless and can transmit streaming video via wifi LIVE (IN REAL TIME) to an outside computer. Can anyone tell me where i can find such a product?

wireless micro camera or just plain out non laymen camera system.?

October 15th, 2010

I see cameras where it has the camera and the receiver end and the typical IP camera where the camera has its own IP address.

http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/ab7/calistation/wireless_camera_system7.jpg

Not sure if these are junk and also showing you this image because I am looking for a camera this size. I have solar panel garden lights which I have taken one apart and have plenty of room inside to add the camera whatever else I need to connect to the power source of the solar source.

But I would like to connect them into my network(local), and I don’t care about connecting to them over the internet, I just need the camera’s to run into my PC by use of a special video card to handle multiple cameras if I need to add more and not be limited. If not by a video card then by some 1U video server, you know what I am talking about. Not a basic laymen system that runs 4 cameras into a receiver into your TV or monitor.

Really I don’t care about the pin cameras if you cannot point me into any decent ones, those are for the garden solar light camera I want to work on, but for now, right now, I could use two normal small size cameras which will be in close proximity of me, to the point where I could just run CAT5 to them but prefer wireless. or use a video card that supports whatever connecting wire I need.

Someone please in security that knows professional setups and if not anyone that knows any good products I am looking for based off experience for sure 10-points!
Tell me about wireless, actually a expert when it comes to network security, not sure what you do, but it sounds the same, NOC Admin.

Quality would be nice to be 640×480 and up

Budget: ~250 USD
